What we do

We specialise in sympathetic and traditional period wood restoration

Our projects vary in size from a Victorian semi-detached family home to a Grade I listed stately residence as well as some of our country’s most recognisable scheduled monuments, including Kensington Palace. Our focus is always to conserve and restore original features, whilst striking a balance with the needs of a space to live in and enjoy.

Our philosophy

Historic woodwork must be given the same treatment and respect that antique furniture demands

Over time surfaces take on a wonderful historic character and colour which is referred to as patina. When restoring, it is vital that this valuable detail remains. This is why we never use sanding machines and only ever use traditional techniques and materials to deliver a unique, beautiful finish every time.

About Vincent

Vincent started his career as an antique furniture restorer in the famous Brighton Lanes at the age of 16. Realising his passion for the techniques and traditions unique to this declining trade, he started his own business in 1989, and soon built a loyal customer-base through his superior standard of work and dedicated customer service.

The historical relevance and restoration of historic woodwork has been Vincent Reed’s passion for over 35 years, giving him hands-on experience of all types of period properties, from private homes to royal palaces as a historic woodwork consultant.

Imparting his knowledge and skill to educate on the correct methods and techniques for the conservation and restoration of period woodwork, Vincent is regularly called upon to lecture for The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as well as the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), The Royal Household Conservation departments, Conservation Officers and many private dwellings.
